How the free limit in the Gemini app works
Google used to publish a number of free images per day and changed it several times. Its current help page describes limits based on usage instead: image generation counts more heavily than chat, your allowance refills every few hours, and there is a weekly ceiling. Paid Google AI plans multiply the allowance.
To see where you stand, open the Gemini app and check Settings, then Usage limits. Guides that quote a fixed “100 images a day” are out of date.
Images from the Gemini app carry a small visible Gemini mark by default and an invisible SynthID watermark that cannot be removed. Google added a setting to turn off the visible mark on new images in most countries, which you can find in the app settings.
