Nano Banana Pro Free: What You Get and What It Costs
Where Nano Banana Pro is free, where it is not, and the cheapest way to get Pro-quality 4K images.
Nano Banana Pro free access is mostly gone. Google’s top image model (Gemini 3 Pro Image) is slower and more expensive to run than Nano Banana 2, so Google keeps it behind paid plans in the Gemini app and bills it per image on the API. Here is what is still possible and what it costs.
Short answer
Not really. In the Gemini app, redoing images with Nano Banana Pro is a feature of paid Google AI plans, and Google’s API charges $0.134 for each 1K or 2K Pro image. Free Gemini accounts get Nano Banana 2 instead, which is close in quality for everyday images.
Nano Banana Pro in the Gemini app
In the Gemini app, new images are made with Nano Banana 2. Subscribers to a Google AI plan can then redo an image with Nano Banana Pro for more detail and better text. Google’s plan comparison lists that Pro redo under the paid plans; free accounts briefly had a small Pro allowance in late 2025 and early 2026, which has since been removed.
If you already pay for Google AI Pro or Ultra for Gemini’s other features, that is the easiest way to get Pro images.
Nano Banana Pro in Google AI Studio and the API
Developers call Nano Banana Pro as gemini-3-pro-image. Google’s pricing page lists no free tier for image models. Standard prices are $0.134 per image at 1K or 2K and $0.24 at 4K; batch mode halves them. See the Nano Banana API guide for setup.
What about “unlimited free Nano Banana Pro”?
Every Pro image costs whoever generates it at least $0.134 on Google’s API, so nobody can give it away without limits. Offers like this are short trials, a different model under the Pro name, or a way to collect your details. Be careful with sites that ask for a card to unlock “free” Pro credits.
The cheapest way to get Nano Banana Pro images here
On Nano Banana AI, Nano Banana Pro is included in the Pro plan: $29.99/month for 10,000 credits. A Pro image costs 90 credits at 1K or 2K and 120 at 4K, so the plan covers about 111 Pro images at 2K or 83 at 4K each month. That works out to roughly $0.27 per 2K image, with no Google subscription and no daily cap.
The same credits also run Nano Banana 2 at 40 credits for drafts, so you can explore cheaply and spend Pro credits only on the final image.
Free alternatives that come close
- Nano Banana 2 in the Gemini app is free and handles most portraits, products and edits nearly as well. Our Nano Banana 2 vs Pro test shows them side by side.
- Nano Banana 2.1, released by Google in October 2026, narrows the gap further on the API at a lower price than Pro.
