Google AI Image Generator: Every Google Image Model in One Place
Which Google model does what, and how to use all of them next to OpenAI and ByteDance models.
Google’s AI image generator is a family of models, not a single product. Today it is the Nano Banana line inside Gemini; Google’s older Imagen line has been retired from its API. This page explains which Google model to use for what, and lets you run all of them online next to the best models from OpenAI, ByteDance and others. Nano Banana AI is an independent studio that uses Google’s models through their API. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.
Short answer
Google’s current image generators are its Gemini image models, called Nano Banana: Nano Banana 2 (fast, up to 4K), Nano Banana 2 Lite (cheapest), Nano Banana Pro (highest quality) and the original Nano Banana. Imagen, Google’s earlier text-to-image line, was shut down in the Gemini API in August 2026.
