What Is Nano Banana Pro? Gemini 3 Pro Image Explained

·5 min read·Nano Banana AI

Nano Banana Pro is the nickname for Gemini 3 Pro Image, Google’s highest-quality image generation and editing model. Google released it in November 2025 as the “Pro” tier of the Nano Banana family. Where the Flash models (Nano Banana, Nano Banana 2) aim for speed, Pro plans each image before drawing it, which makes it slower and more expensive but noticeably better at text, complex layouts and fine detail.

What Nano Banana Pro does better

  • Text. Posters, menus, infographics and labelled diagrams with several lines of copy, in many languages.
  • Complex prompts. Many subjects, exact positions and long instructions, because the model reasons about the layout first.
  • Resolution. Native output at 1K, 2K and 4K.
  • References. According to Google’s documentation it accepts up to 6 object images, up to 5 character images and up to 3 style images in one request, which helps with brand work and consistent characters.
  • Grounding. Through the API it can use Google Search grounding to draw on current information, for example for an infographic about recent data.
