Nano Banana 3: Release Date, Rumors and What We Know

As of October 25, 2026, Google has not announced Nano Banana 3, Nano Banana 4 or Nano Banana Pro 2. The newest model is Nano Banana 2.1, released on October 6, 2026. We update this page when that changes.

The latest Nano Banana model

Nano Banana 2.1 (API name gemini-nano-banana-2.1) is an update to Nano Banana 2. Google describes it as the efficient counterpart to Nano Banana Pro: better image quality, prompt adherence, character consistency and text than Nano Banana 2, at a lower API price ($0.0336 per 1K image). It is available through Google’s API; it is not on Nano Banana AI yet.

Every Nano Banana release so far

In the same period Google retired Imagen from the Gemini API (August 17, 2026) and deprecated the original Gemini 2.5 Flash Image.

What the rumors say about Nano Banana 3

On October 12, 2026, TestingCatalog reported a “Gempix 3 Pro” string in Google’s image tooling and suggested it could become Nano Banana 3 Pro, possibly built on a future Gemini 4 model. Earlier Nano Banana launches were also preceded by internal “GemPix” references. That is one report, with no confirmation from Google, no model card and no API listing, so treat any release date you see as a guess.

What to expect

Based on Google’s pattern so far, the next big jump is likely to arrive alongside a new Gemini generation, with a Pro tier and a cheaper Flash tier. The trend in each release has been better text, stronger consistency across images and lower prices per image.
