Nano Banana Limits: Daily Caps by Plan (2026)

·4 min read·Nano Banana AI

Nano Banana’s limits depend on where you use it. The Gemini app uses usage-based limits that refill during the day, Google’s API uses rate limits and per-image billing, and other apps use their own credits. Google stopped publishing a fixed number of free images per day, so older figures such as “100 images a day” are out of date.

Limits in the Gemini app

According to Google’s Gemini Apps limits page (October 2026):

  • Image generation with Nano Banana 2 is available on every plan, including no plan.
  • Limits are based on usage rather than a fixed image count. They refresh every few hours until you reach a weekly limit, and media generation uses more of your allowance than chat.
  • Paid plans raise the limits: Google lists Google AI Plus at 2x the standard limits, AI Pro at 4x, and AI Ultra at a higher multiple of AI Pro.
  • Redoing images with Nano Banana Pro is listed under the paid plans.

To see where you stand, open Settings, then Usage limits in the app.

Limits on the API and in AI Studio

  • No free tier for image models. Google’s pricing page marks them as not available on the free tier, so each image is billed.
  • Rate limits are set per project in requests per minute and per day, and grow with your usage tier. Daily limits reset at midnight Pacific time.
  • When you hit a rate limit, the API returns an error (HTTP 429). Wait, slow down, or request a higher tier.

Limits in other apps

Photoshop, Freepik, Krea and similar platforms use their own credit systems; a Nano Banana generation usually costs more credits than the app’s own models.

Limits on Nano Banana AI

There is no daily cap: you spend credits only when you generate.

Each column shows how many images the monthly credits buy if you spend them all on that one model. Credit packs top up any plan; see pricing.

Is Nano Banana unlimited anywhere?

No. Every image costs whoever runs the model, so “unlimited” offers are either time-limited promotions, capped behind the scenes, or not the real model. See Is Nano Banana free? for the honest free options. If images stop before you reach a limit, Nano Banana not working covers the other usual causes.
